Combat and Special Skills
Almost anything may be attacked, except for special characters that give out quests, run shops, or help new characters. To attack with a melee weapon (up close weapon, such as fists, knife, club, etc) you must be facing your opponent, and right next to them. Press |Spacebar| to |Attack|. When using a ranged weapon, such as firearms, you must |Left Click| an opponent to select a |Target| before pressing attack. You can also press |E| to quickly select the |closest target| in the direction you're facing. Pressing |E| multiple times will cycle through targets in your current line of sight.
To use your special skills, you'll need to utilize the Quickbar. If it isn't already visible, press |Control + Q| to bring it up. You can hold |Shift and Left Click| any slot on the quickbar to bring up a list of all the skills you know. Click one of these skills, and it will be placed in the selected slot on the Quickbar. You use these skills by either clicking their icons in the Quickbar itself, or pressing a corresponding |F Key|. For example, if you have the skill Hide in the 4th Quickbar Slot, pressing F4 will use the skill. The first skill in Quickbar slot one can be accessed by pressing |ALT|, for ease of use. You want to put the skill you use most often here. Remember that attacking an innocent character will get you flagged as a murderer. Anyone can attack murderers, and both Police and Security will be after you as well. A murderer flag wears off after an hour, or when you die. Cultists may always be attacked as though they had murderer flags.
